All company members need to sign up for a costume fitting on Saturday, April 17th.  Unless you are already assigned a time, please write me with your first choice of times, and I will assign on a first come basis.  If you are assigned a time I still need to hear from you that you WILL be there!

I don’t want anyone to miss their workshop, so if it does not work out I will stay until everyone is properly fitted.  If  you are not participating in the partnering workshop, please choose a time between 2:30 and 3:15.  For those assigned in the larger group fittings, it is very important that you do not leave until directly and personally dismissed by Laura H.  Everyone needs to be checked for multiple costumes and we want everyone to look their best and be able to dance unencumbered.  (Don’t go sneaking out the back door!)

Here is a personal thank you from one of our dance families…

All:

This is a heartfelt THANK YOU to all the individuals who worked hard and 
donated to the floor for the studio.  It is awesome both visually and in 
performance.  I walked into the studio and could not believe how great it  made
the studio look.  Jackie was thrilled with the floor.  No more  worries
about falling or sliding off pointe due to the floor.

Thank you Cheviot Westwood Kiwanis for helping to make our studio dream 
come true.  Our dancers are very dedicated to their ballet and to the  studio.
The new floor will help them to continue their pursuit of  dance and to
be able to continue to give back to the community through their  art.

Please also be aware that we CHEATED to get IT here ahead of schedule and before all our ducks were in a row.  More than ever we will rely on your sense of fair play not to give up before the job is done.

The schedule is remaining the same with the few changs that Steve Bierens will be teaching every Friday this Spring,  Anna Frey will be teaching Saturday mornings, and Elizabeth Brock will be assisting with some of the children’s classes.

On the list for characters to be brought to life through dance are a a fastidious little Tittlemouse facing unusual obstacles to a clean-swept house.  A guild of talented mice put down their needles for some celebrating, while two naughty mice cause some dolls grief.

And then there’s Peter.  Perhaps the most famous Potter character; the naughty rabbit, his three goodie-goodie sisters and his equally mischivous cousin will be well played and duly danced to their fullest. 

But what about Mr. McGregor?  He’s irrascible, irritated, and constantly on the look out for wascally wabbits.

 The Cincinnati Kinderballet proudly presents a new ballet for the winter 2009 performance season:  The Tailor of Gloucester!

In 1903, Beatrix Potter crafted a charming fable of mice with generous hearts and a cat with a conscience.  The Tailor of Gloucester must finish a cherry-colored coat for the Mayor by Christmas Day, but his cat has hidden the last bit of silk needed out of spiteful anger.  The tailor despairs and takes ill, leaving the cloth he cut on his workbench; the coat lies unfinished.  Christmas is a time of wonder and only a miracle can help the tailor.  Will his Christmas morning be a joyous one?

This holiday season, the Cincinnati Kinderballet of the Anneliese von Oettingen School of Ballet and Ballet Companies brings to life the story of the Tailor of Gloucester.  The performance weaves Beatrix Potter’s tale about a “time of swords and periwigs and full-skirted coats with flowered lappets—when gentlemen wore ruffles, and gold-laced waistcoats…” with traditional carols, Renaissance music, and the contemporary works of Benjamin Britton and Patrick Doyle.  The result is purely magical and a guaranteed Christmas delight for the whole family.
